Team India ended their long wait for a senior women’s ICC trophy by lifting the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup last year and arenow eyeing an encore at the upcoming ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Speaking on JioStar’s ‘Champions Huddle’, Harmanpreet Kaur, Amol Muzumdar and Jemimah Rodrigues shared their thoughts on winning their maiden ICC title, the message to the youngsters aheadof the tournament, and the importance of making winning a habit.
Speaking on JioStar’s ‘Champions Huddle’, India Captain Harmanpreet Kaur reflected on the confidence the team has gained afterending its wait for an ICC trophy:
“Yeah, 100 per cent. I think everybody will agree with me that life has completely changed after winning our first ODI World Cup.Hopefully, we’ll continue this run of winning trophies. This is what I want as a captain, and I think it’s what everyone in our team has been dreaming of. Hopefully, we’ll continue moving in this direction.”
Speaking on JioStar’s ‘Champions Huddle’, India Head Coach Amol Muzumdar touched upon pressure and making winning a habit as ateam:
“There’s pressure in every tournament, and the players are used to it. They’ve been playing international cricket for some timenow. But in a tournament like the World Cup, we’ll be going in as ODI World Cup champions for the first time. Winning is a habit. Over the last three years, we’ve tried to win every series and to treat each one as extremely important, regardless of who we’replaying against. Once you get into the habit of winning series, it becomes second nature. The team has been working very hard on this for the past month. I’ve never seen a team, irrespective of gender, work so hard and be so dedicated towards one goal.”
On his message to the team members who were not part of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup-winning team:
“It’s about bringing the youngsters together. This team has seniors who are always ready to share whatever experiences they havegained. There are a few new faces in this team. Yastika has been playing for many years, but she was sidelined due to injury. She knows what international cricket is all about. So, there’s only one message: go out there, give your best, and try to win gamesfor India. It’s as simple as that.”
Speaking on JioStar’s ‘Champions Huddle’, Jemimah Rodrigues mentioned that having crossed that hurdle of winning an ICC tournamentwill keep the team in good stead ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026:
“Everyone was a part of it; they know what pressure feels like and, at the same time, everyone knows that we’ve crossed the line onceand can do it again. That belief rubs off. Many times, we visualise success so much, but now we’ve actually lived it. That helps us believe even more that we can do it again. It’s great to have so many members from the 2025 World Cup squad in this team, alongwith a few more youngsters coming in. I think the energy will rub off on them. Everyone is going to share their experiences. But when you win one, you don’t want to stop there. You want to make it two, three, however many you can. Our fans make us feel athome wherever we go. So, yes, we are the favourites, no doubt about that.”
